Hey guys/gals,
I'm currently deployed, and have missed all but one elk season in Washington since I moved here 4 years ago. The only season I tried it, is the exact situation I'm in this year. I will be getting back to the States right before modern firearm opens, so I'll miss Archery and Black powder, so I'm stuck with modern rifle, and planned on going to the Peninsula. Last time I tried Clearwater GMU, and had a blast, but it was rough without being able to scout during summer, and the non stop rain. In 3 days I saw plenty of signs of Elk nearby, but didn't see any until the last day. It was too dark to take a shot, so we packed up and headed home. I'll have more than 3 days this year, so I will be able to scout for the first couple days, but I was wondering if you guys had any tips, or ideas to help me prepare? Google earth, and the WDFW website are helpful, but anything that you guys can suggest would be great.
Thanks!
