Sitka pants and jacket recommendations ?
« on: September 25, 2018, 06:18:25 PM »
I'm looking at upgrading my hunting clothing, and after buying into LEO adventures I can finally afford some Sitka gear.
So I've been looking at the Sitka Timberline pants, has anybody used them ? have any suggestions ? I looked at Sitka Cloudburst but that seems more like true rains pants, also some say they are noisy.  :bdid: I'm not much of a hunt in rain person, or even charge through wet brush type of guy. I hunt most the eastside of the mountains and the state of Montana.

Also any suggestions of jackets ? suggestions on base layers ?

Just ordered a pair a week ago, waiting for them to show up. I'll be wearing these for any hunts after October 1 on the east side and pretty much everything on the west side. Pretty excited. My usual base layer is a long set of merino boxers and knee length socks. Pretty much only leaves a couple inches of exposed skins works well for spot and stalk hunts when it's moderately cold.

Nice, let me know how they workout for you on the hunt.

Was the size true to what you normally wear ? I'm thinking about going to a retail store and see if I can try some on before I purchase online..... I hate playing the returning game.

Everything sitka I've bought has been true to my normal size. If you want I can let you know how the pants fit when I get them!

All thumbs up on the Timberlines!!

Jetstream Jacket with a puffy under it like First Lite is money.  Merino base layer.

I picked up a Gravelly rain jacket this year and super impressed.  With Stormfront pants makes a solid raingear setup.

But can't go wrong with those Timberlines.
It's a TIKKA thing..., you may not understand.

Made the leap last yr and not looking back. I’ve hunted early archery as well as late season on both the east side and the wet side and I’m brutal on gear. I now own 2 pairs of the timberline pants. Just have the right base layer for the season. I purchased this yr the cloudburst set up and love it. Kept me out in the nasty stuff this yr already and I was dry and comfortable. As far as sizing everything has fit true to size for me.

Timberlines are more of a cold weather pant. Waterproof knees/butt. Mountain pant is maybe better. I usually just run Prana zions for pants.
Bases/mids/shells are pretty personal. I have alot of sitka. Maybe around 30 peices. I like it, obviously. What i wear or yske with me depends on weather, topo, hunt type and day hunt or backpack in.
I use a dealer back east. He is around 35% off. Let me know if you want his contact. Its through a sporting good store.

Ain't nothing better than the adrenaline you get when seeing an animal in the wild.

Love my timberlines but...if you're a active hunter I would say they are best for 60* and lower. I was wearing mine Monday in eastern WA and was cooking by 8 am. Switched to my Ascent pants for the rest of Monday and Tuesday.   :twocents:
