I hunted it all 13 days, all on the tree farm, never really got any rut activity, quite until the last 3 days. We heard our first elk bugle Tuesday the 18th and yesterday got our first response. Passed on a spike and had 3 other bulls under 40 just couldn't get a shot off. We saw elk every day they were just not in the mood to play. The unstable weather for part of the season made the winds unpredictable and a bit challenging especially in the swamp we knew held a couple big bulls. All in all it was a great hunt just didn't get that little bit of luck we needed. Hopefully the wife can draw the muzzy tag one of these years and we can do it again. The muzzy tag holders this year should have a good hunt, they should right in the thick of the rut, things were really starting to heat up yesterday.
