60 pounds of pears

So when your relative gives you a couple of boxes of pears what do you do before they are soft?

You make Pear Honey.   :IBCOOL:

I've never heard of Pear Honey, sounds like it would be great though! I hate wasting food so good thinking.

Looks good. I found myself making about 30 lbs of pickled green tomatoes this week. Half got dumped on me when I brought it up to some family. Those pears look like eaters

Sometimes Cinnamon, Nutmeg, Ginger, Cloves or just pears. It's all good.

It doesn't get bottled in those little girly jars either. 12 oz. or better.  :chuckle:

by the way, looks better than when you do it versus the last bear I seen.   About the same consistency, but certainly a more appealing color.  Taste, well   :chuckle:

Is that the same as apple "butter"? But, with pears, of course....   :chuckle:

BTW, anyone doing fruit stuff and doesn't want their fruit juice to get brown, go to a brewery supply place and get some ascorbic acid or acid blend crystals.  Less than 1/2t. is enough to keep over 2 gallons of apple juice from browning up. Lemon juice works, but sometimes you don't want that lemon flavor.  I also put a little in a pan when I'm slicing apples and pears for drying, a quick dip and they stay fresher looking.

Similar but usually not as thick depends on how long you cook it.
