Mcnary lottery
« on: September 22, 2018, 08:32:24 PM »
Any get a good draw this year?

I got two crappy draws, 12/8 #21 and 12/9 #11

Hoping for some good ridgefield draw results to make up for this

Getting harder to draw these days.   I remember getting top 3 draws at Umatilla in our group of guys every year (somebody in the group of 8 usually drew of top 3), but with the increased popularity that doesn't happen anymore.  I got #13 at Umatilla for 12/29.   Buddy of mine drew #1 Mcnary on opening day this year, but that is Cascade elk season in OR so can't join him as I already committed to my OR elk buddies for their hunt.

Our group drew 2 #1s in Jan at McNary. Nothing special in Irrigon. Couple mid teens and 20s, one top 10 outside of the group I'll probably go on. McNary is definitely easier to draw than Irrigon, but it is getting harder.

I got 12/29 #10. Will that get me a decent blind? Will be my first time hunting there. I assume there might be a few no-shows?

Ridgefield has always been more busy that McNary on the days I have gone.  This year I "did not win any picks."  >:(

It is kind of a neat place to hunt. I have only hunted there twice. Once was a number 1 draw in October, once was with a buddy on a #10 in november. Both times we shot near limits, had to wait and work hard to get mallards and widgeon. I don't know why- but that place is a Spoonie Mecca. I have never seen so many spoonbills in one place. Late december might be a good time to try and get a full plumaged drake for the wall. Good luck- have fun.
