Late Season Archery Tactics
« on: September 30, 2018, 08:03:51 PM »
Hey bowhunters, I'm curious what kind of late season tactics have proven successful for y'all.  Glassing clearcuts, still hunting, etc.  Also, how far below/above the snow line do you normally see elk?  Last, do you bother with cow calling at all or do you rely on a "silent" approach?  This is my first year hunting late season elk so any tidbits would be super appreciated.  Cheers

Jake

Eastside or Westside?  If eastside and some weather has hit most elk will be on the move to lower elevations.  Can see a lot of elk that time of year but they are sure spooked by then.

Close your eyes, spin around 3 times and whatever direction your facing just start hiking  :chuckle: it's pretty much luck at this point in the season...they been run to hell...best luck I've had is coming across fresh sign and just track them down...calling is pretty much irrellivent at this point in the season, would probably just send the herd at Mach 20 in the opposite direction  :twocents: I carry my call just to stop the elk for shot opportunity if needed
