Thoughts on H1000 powder
« on: September 14, 2018, 06:18:59 PM »
I got turned onto the H1000 powder and so far working pretty well. Before using H1000 i was using IMR7828 and others trying to find the sweet spot.

What are others thoughts on H1000 and what is your go to powder for .300 H&H, wm,Weatherby RUM and the .338's

H1000 is one of best powders out there for big cased and overbored cartridges. Rock solid temp stable. I use it in my 300RUM with excellent results.

I use it exclusively for my 7mag.  I havent tried it yet in my 338 mag.  For that I have been using Reloader 17, but I am sure H1000 would be as good if not better.

I found it worked great in my 300 win mag with 200 or heavier grain bullets.  It didn't work worth a darn for 180's in the same rifle.  Could have been the bullet powder combo....but with the 212 eld-x it is my go to powder.  It pushes the 212's at 2884 fps which is pretty darn good.

I am thinking about loading it in my .257 weatherby using 110gr accubonds.  I hope it works.

You don’t get top velocity with H1000.  But you do get one of the most stable powders out there. Lots of people build rifles that will shoot H1000 just for that reason.

I used a lot of retumbo in my rum also. It worked real well but had some weird pressure instances in extreme cold weather.
