The two I have been in have been a joke, the one guy told me that a bow will shoot smoother after he paper tunes it, then we asked him how to put a scope on a bow, he said it screws into thw riser!!!! down this way they screw up a ton of stuff and the work for the most part has been sloppy at best......

Holy Crap!  Why in the hell would you give a seminar at a Sportsmans Wharehouse one week, then bash them a week later.

Have some respect for yourself. Maintaining a relationship with a merchant like this should be a symbiotic relationship where you both benefit. Blessing a store you consider "a joke" with your presence is pathetic, arrogant and egotistical.

If I did not like a particular store, thought they were "a joke", I would not accept an arrangement where I gave a seminar. Wouldn't do it. I would politely decline.

I am an expert on very few if any topics. If I was, I would surely be careful to protect my image by only standing with others in the field who I believe have a good image. I would not hang my hat on a business I did not like. Good lord.

Im not sure how speaking the blantant truth is disrespectful? the archery Dep has nothing to do with fishing and I never said all of them are bad......

I would have to agree with hoyt with this one both the vancouver and portland sportsmans are not very good and not just in the bow section. I dont think this is because of pay but just lack of experience. IMO. I tried to buy a rifle at the portland store and they tried to tell me they dont sell the XL7 at any store and I was sure they did in Vancouver but NO I was wrong. Sooo I go to Vancouver and what do you know XL7. The Vancouver store in the bow depot the guys just dont have much of a clue and are very slow. Agian this is IMO.

It can be real difficult to find good archery help.  There just aren't that many archers in WA, and good bow mechanics are even rarer.  I've been fortunate at the Federal way store to find some really good help, and I aint bad myself.

Even so, we're human and we sometimes make mistakes.  For example I tied in a D-loop for a soldier from Ft Lewis yesterday, and I don't know what went wrong, I've tied hundreds of D-loops, but this one broke, and that soldier came back to me with a busted lip, and pissed off .  I felt, and still feel, like s**t.  I did what I could to make it right, and when it was all said and done he accepted my appology and shook my hand.  I still don't know if it was a flaw in the D-loop material, or my installation. :dunno:  In any case there is no perfect archery shop, because they are run and staffed by people, and people just aint perfect. ;)

I've had nothing but good experiences with the FedWay store. Great people and very helpful

I have had only great experience in dealing with the Lacey Sportsmans Rod and Ray are awesome,  I did have a little trouble with the silverdale one. I have dealt with the Federal Way one recently and they were friendly and stayed open even past closing to help us. I don't ever remember asking what they make per hour to see if they are qualified to work on my bow, that is ridicules.

I have also had Larry do some work for me at the Federal Way store and he was a true professional IMO.

I got to give a thumbs up for Larry as well, he set my dad up with a bow 4 years ago, which he's now taken 3 elk with it.  Always an honest professional.  I enjoy most of the guys in the archery dept at Fed Way.  Larry if you ever leave there for someplace else, let all of us know where you're going!

This is nice to have you on here Larry.  It is always fun to chat with you when I come into the store.  How is the stocking of the store coming?  Last time I went in there was no primers (as expected), no powder, some bullets so that is good.

I've been to Sportsmans Warehouse & Cabela's numerous times and I'd take S.W. any day of the week.  Rod is a good person and very easy to work with. Has even hooked me up with some extra stuff a couple of times.  Last time i asked for help @ Cabela's the "Kid" had no clue what I was talking about.

I have to admit that the Federal Way Sportsmen's (now Wholesale Sports) archery department is top notch.  The staff I have dealt with there really know their stuff and have been a pleasure to deal with.

I purchased my first bow at Sportsmans in Lacey.  The guy took his time and set everything up right.  I have shot a few hundred times with no problems.

I haven't bought a bow yet but I went to Sportsman and they talked with me, taught me a few things, and let me shoot my first arrow.
A few days later I stopped by Sportco, I stood there looking at the archery stuff for a good 10minutes, and the guys wouldn't give me the time of day. They went on with their own conversation and do their thing but never went over to ask me if I needed anything. And that day was alittle with no other customers waiting for service but me.
I am a faithful Sportco member and purchased nearly all of my outdoors supplies from them.
But I will not go to them for archery unless they have better customer service.

Thats why i do not have membership any more.
I will happily pay more and travel farther to get good customer srevice, and Sportco is right across the freeway from my work.

There customer service is "Non-existant".
