Looking at consigning a rifle at the local store, How do I decide price? It is a Browning X Bolt, wood and blue, .280 rem, Zeiss scope,( not a fancy Zeiss, 3X9X40 new about $3-400.00). Is $700.00 seem fair?thanksCarl
Being that its a 280, I'd try selling it privately first.
Pricing (at least advice) is the responsibility of the store. That's why they're getting 15%. If they quote lower than what you're willing to sell, then go private, hang on to it or lower your expectations. Most stores I've seen price consigned inventory pretty fully.

Depends on how fast they want to make a buck off of you. They really aren't making anything off of you other than the fee they charge to sell your rifle. Truth of the matter, most stores that don't consign see it as a loss of business and shelf space. If they can sell your rifle why not sell one of their own?
