Help with Guardian...
« on: March 25, 2009, 03:19:30 PM »
I have felt like my draw length on my Guardian has gotten longer so I checked it the other night and my 29" dl bow is now 29-3/4".  I have also lost about 6lbs of draw weight.

This bow was new in Dec.  I have been shooting a lot but I don't know if I can get rid of 3/4" of stretch by twisting the string.

Any suggestions?

Shouldn't take too many twists in the cables and string to get you back to where you were. How much did your brace height change?

That's the thing.  BH and ATA is still right on.  This bow has 70-80lb limbs and when I got it I checked weight and it drew 81lbs and I backed it off to 72.  Now it maxes at 74.  Could be the first scale I used was off but I don't think so.  I bought myself one since and have verified it is right on.

You could still do some twisting w/o affecting BH and ATA too much, check your cam rotation and make sure they're in spec, not usre you'll get back to 80#, maybe the limbs are getting weak but I have not heard of the guardian having limb problems.

I also read somewhere that Bowtech stock strings do have a tendency to stretch after a while.  Just a thought.  A custom string is always a good investment  :)

Yeah, I ordered some custom strings about a week ago.  Hadn't plan on changing them right away.  The cams are rotated forward just a bit but timed good.

I guess I'll go with the new strings out as soon as they get here.

If I were you I would give bowtech a quick email and tell them what is happening. They are good about telling you how to fix problems because more than likely you aren't the first to have this issue.

I left a message for one of their techs today to call me back but haven't heard anything.

I just took the strings and cables off and they measure to spec.  I'm a little confused.  The drop in draw weight has me worried.  I hope the limbs aren't getting weak already.  I guess I'll se what happens with new strings and try to get a hold of Bowtech.
