we used 8 of the allen, and 4 of the "realtree" brand from Walmart, which I am sure are the same thing this year.
only complaint was the small tabs they include for hanging are weak, be broke 2 sets with loaded bags, not super heavy loaded either, probably 30-40# in them.

my plan is to cut paracord, and leave in the bags. then we have cordage to hang from that is much better quality.
they were a bloody mess when they hit the washing machine, came out looking basically like new. I will be purchasing another set of the allens, or the realtrees if they have them in the local walmarts here. I did pay more the 9$ for them though, think they were over 20 on amazon  :bash:

Are they made of cloth and will cover meat? They're probably OK then.

I found some allen game bags on sale at walmart for $5, used them on my spike elk then again on my buck deer and they look like they can keep going for a while.

I run my bloody game bags with cold water and no detergent on a quick wash setting, then rewash hot on a whites setting with detergent.  I could get them whiter by adding bleach, but I'd rather they be stronger and less white.
As long as we have the habitat, we can argue forever about who gets to kill what and when.  No habitat = no game.

This is a secret don’t tell anyone else. 😉

Go to a thrift store and buy good heavy sheets in the size you want, and sew the ends to make a game bag. 👍

Use a little hydrogen peroxide instead of bleach or detergent.
Won't harm the cloth and removes blood stains, and disinfects better than detergent.

Or get one of these.  I have one, and don't use hot water or detergent.  Saves me a lot of money.

I've been doing this for 3 years now. I buy and cut to desired length and have mom in law sew them up for me. Work awesome.

I don't use bed sheets. Theres a thin light fabric that feels like silk but is very strong that I use. Its light and very breathable. I've got probably 2 dozen spread out from truck, to pack and home all cut and sewed to my specifications.

They've held thru elk, goat, sheep and bison without ripping.

Been three elk and two bears run through mine this year alone. Only ones I’ll use and continue to use them. Nice and white still. Oxy clean scrub with the hose, then washing machine with bleach. Back in the pack they go. Fourth year on em also.

Yeah I use to use cotton, but the synthetic stuff is way better.

:yeah:  I keep a pillow case for the heart and liver, when I am elk hunting and two big game bags.  Deer hunting I carry one big game bag and debone the meat.  On a good year of packing I have used a pillow case to put meat in if I am out of game bags.

This is what my hunting buddy uses. they make the extra long ones and they work great for deer quarters. Probably even a  elk quarter

Wow I didn't realize that this was actually a thing. I posted that I bought some from Wally world but usually I use cheap bed sheets to wrap them and I've never had a problem. I guess to each their own but it's whatever I find that works for me. I'm not that picky... Sometimes I use nothing when it's late enough in the year and I let my meat hang 4-7 days depending... Only found eggs once I believe in the tallow layers along the stomach opening...

:yeah:
I have a set of those as well as Alaska Game Bags.  I think they each have their benifits.  The Black Ovis bags are lighter and have  reflective bands on them.  They have held up well so far.  The Alaska Game Bags are thicker and heavier.  They feel more durable than the Black Ovis, not sure if they are or not.  I feel like the Black Ovis bags breath better and let the meat cool down faster.  The Alaskan Game Bags seem to hold more heat.
