Doubled Up On Nevada Lions
« on: December 28, 2018, 10:42:22 PM »
After 18 months of planning, resherch and anticipation, a friend and I are done with an awesome 7 days hunting lions in Nevada.
Not going to ruin a story for my hunting partner, so I’ll let him post his own pic’s if he so chooses.
We started the hunt on the 22nd. The first cat was caught on the 23rd (not mine). Nice mature tom.
We traveled country spanning just south of Jackpot, all the way down to Pioche. Covering as much ground as the weather conditions would allow.
We caught my break on Thursday mid-morning, finding a good track from the night before. Turned out on the track and the they went to cold trailing for about an hour and a half. They jumped him off of giant rock covered knob and the race was on. The cat ran a pretty big circle through the foot hills and was eventually caught on the ground. Now the fight was on. Great thing about it was that I was able to listen to almost the entire race from start to jump to catch. Got into where the dogs had him bayed up and finished the hunt with a bang.
After all the smoked cleared (shot him with my muzzleloader) and dust settled I had the second tom down. Another solid mature lion.
Can not show enough appreciation to the two guides. They did everything possible to make sure that, not only we got our cats but had a great experience to go with it. Great guys, great dogs and a whole lot of fun.

Awesome cat looks skinny and needing a meal. Who did you hunt with?

you weren't kidding the fight was on, or the guide rewarded the dogs well after the shot.  Awesome cat!

Sounds like a great hunt.  Man I wish we could use dogs here  :bash:

He was pretty empty. We hunted with Bull Creek Lion Hunts out of Wells, NV.

Yeah, they were well into a good fight when we got to them. He did end up a little dirty.

Certainly have a lot of lions down there. Good for you for making that happen
Kindly do not attempt to cloud the issue with too many facts.
