Either 300 rum or 243. Got my Idaho buck last week with my rum, and if I hunt black tail local it will be the 243. I may head for a backpack trip up high and take the rum

Remington model 760 game master in .30-06 (pump action) made in the 70’s
Nikon 3x9x40 scope
I have the scope elivated with see threw mounts allowing the use of the iron sights.
For when the rain is really coming down. Missed out on more than one Blacktail buck because I couldn’t use the scope in the heavy rain and had no access to the iron sights. What a helpless feeling that I hope none of You ever have to experience.
It’s a great little gun and very light weight. Belonged to My grandfather before Me.
Kicks harder than you would expect and has a very loud report due to short barrel.
It’s good to about 200 yards in My hands but I have taken one black tail spike at just over 300 yards in a wide open clear cut.
I also have a browning xbolt in .30-06, Nikon scope 3x9x40.
Incredible groups and has no problem hitting the mark at longer distances.
Super light weight gun. It comes with Me on a clear day or if I expect a long shot to be required.
This year I have opted to use My T/C 50 cal Black diamond XR. Inline muzzle loader during modern season. Fiber optic open sights. 100gr of triple 7 300gr hornaday copper jacketed hollow point in a T/C sabot. It’s accurate to 200 yards + but I expect to keep it under 100 for thick country Blacktail deer.
I have yet to harvest an animal with a muzzle loader so I decided on it this year.

Long action 270 Win or 30-06 Springfield.  Short action 7mm08 Remington or 308 Winchester.  I have trouble choosing.  Thats why I always have at least one of each.
