2019-2020 New Zealand Hunts For Tahr, Chamois, & Red Stag
« on: October 17, 2018, 12:35:48 PM »
If you've always dreamed of an incredible hunting adventure in New Zealand, then this is the perfect opportunity for you. We have extensive and exclusive access to several massive sections of private land on New Zealand's South Island that contain outstanding Red Stag, Himalayan Tahr, and Alpine Chamois habitat.

In particular, we specialize in free range hunts on foot for Himalayan Tahr and Alpine Chamois.

One of the things that really sets us apart from the other outfitters in New Zealand is that we conduct all our hunts for Chamois and Tahr on foot without using a helicopter. In fact, no other New Zealand hunting outfitter can match our historic success rate or consistently harvests big, mature Tahr and Chamois without using a helicopter like we do. For this reason, we are the premier destination for hunters who want a free range hunt on foot for these alpine species.

We have a 100% success rate on Stag, Tahr, and Chamois over the past 3 years and our hunters are able to be very selective on which animals they take. For instance, the typical bull Tahr our hunters take is over 7 years old and measures over 12".

This is not an "assembly line" or high turnover sort of hunt where you'll be sharing camp with 20 other guys. Instead, we focus on providing quality hunts with the best possible experience for each guest. For that reason, we only book one hunt at a time. Instead of sharing the area with people that you don’t know, you’ll have the whole place to yourself. This allows us to give you our full attention and ensure that you receive VIP treatment on your hunt.

You'll be hunting in the South Canterbury Region of New Zealand's South Island, which has some of the best hunting for Chamois, Stag, and Tahr in the entire country. We'll pick you up and drop you off at the airport in either Christchurch or Timaru. Our main hunting lodge is centrally located on the South Island between 5 and 40 minutes of all our hunting areas. This allows our guests to spend the maximum amount of their valuable time in New Zealand hunting without wasting valuable time driving.

These hunting packages include your your lodging, food, airport pick-up and drop off, services of a hunting guide, NZ Goods & Services Tax, and delivery of your trophies to a New Zealand based taxidermist/shipping agent. Basically, your plane ticket, taxidermy, shipment of your trophies, and gratuities are the only things not included.

We took this 11 year old, 15" bull tahr (which is absolutely massive) in July of 2018.

Contact us for specific dates available for the year as a whole, but we currently have a hunt open 2-6 May 2019. These are prime hunting dates during the Red Stag roar. They also coincide with the Fallow Deer rut, which means they are an ideal time for Fallow Deer and Red Stag hunting with plenty of opportunity for calling.
We also have some availability for an early season hunt in the February-March 2019 timeframe. While that is before the stag roar, the hunting is still fantastic during that time of year and we have a lot of success with our early season hunts. We normally stop hunting stag in July or August each year, so the guys that come early the following year get an opportunity to hunt animals that haven’t been pressured in several months. Hunters normally have similar success rates and take stags of about the same size class on early season hunts as they do during the rut.
