Benchmark barrels

Can't remember for sure but it wasn't more than a couple weeks. I wasn't in a big hurry so it didn't matter. Turn around time would depend on how busy they are too. If you're looking fo quality work I would highly recommend them.

I have an email to benchmark to see if they can start the barrel now, and after late rifle deer I send them the action to cut down on wait time.  Will order the stock soon since that will likely take a little wait time also.

You might be one of the only guys out there who’s familiar with or would recommend an Orias chassis. Everybody else forgot about those.

I met him a couple years back briefly while at their shop. I got a chance to see an early version of the chassis courtesy of Jay.sharkbait when he was working there. It’s a great design but I just haven’t found a good build to use one on.

I’ve had benchmark do two builds for me.  Both rifles are quarter minute or better with custom loads very little copper pick up. Start with the bullet you want to shoot. They will work with you on the specs to achieve best results. If sticking with the 7RM I’d suggest throating and twisting for a 180 grain class bullet.  26” heavy sporter. Skip the flutes in my opinion.  Miller brake. Trigger tech. For a hunting rifle I like the McMillan m40a1 stock with adjustable riser. Personal preference. Bottom metal and mag well appropriately sized for the finished cartridge.  Upgrade the lug and do a ptg bolt with m16 extractor. Yes they cerecote.

I've got 3 benchmark barrels. All finished at .750 at the muzzle. A 6.5 creedmore with a 24, a 7mm rem mag with a 26, and a 338 edge with a 27. All three rifles have brakes, and are a sendero taper. I wouldn't change a thing.

I’d go with the #5. It’s a pretty good balance for a medium weight magnum. I’m not a big fan of muzzle brakes on hunting guns and a 7mm Mag with a #5 contour barrrel will be very manageable without a break.

How much more accurate will a heavier barrel make the first shot from a cold barrel be?

I have 2 #4 and 2 #5 contours. All shoot well but I would go 5. They are money.
