Was hoping that the stock builder will inlet for whichever bottom metal I pick.  I know Manners and McMillan will do it, not sure about others.  Just have to pick well known bottom metal design.

I don't know about all of the different det. mag setups but my HS Prec det. mags and my Seekins det. mag setups were all used on stocks that originally had standard Remington BDL bottom metal.

It seems like most bottom metal is designated either M4 or M5 inlet. The M4 style will drop into most BDL inlets in a stock but the M5 style requires a special inlet. I have the Wyatt's bottom metal and 5 round magazine setup on a stock right now and it's not bad. The mag locks in securely but it rattles terribly. I do like the mag release though.

I bought this stock and Wyatt's bottom metal package as a secondary stock for my Nucleus action and it's a decent deal for $430.

The only problems with the Curtis Custom mags are the price, availability and the max OAL. They're $130, never in stock, and have a max OAL of 3.625". Accurate-Mag does make a 3rd mag that allows a 3.750" OAL and is about 1" shorter than the 5rd version. My 5rd Wyatt's mag hangs down almost exactly 2" so I'd expect the 3rd version to hang about 1" bellow the stock.

Got my bottom metal (HS-Precision), trigger (Trigger tech), and barrel ordered from Benchmark, went with 27 inch 5 contour with the Miller brake 1-9 twist 5 grove.  On the hunt now for a good stock.  Checking Manners daily to try and find a EH-1 flat top, just curious if anyone has an intel on these.  Looks like I can get my hands on one in just a couple of weeks rather than 4-5 months for a Manners.  McMillan isnt much better.

I was less than thrilled with the AGC for the tikka. Main problem was how it was inletted. With the Rem 700 one you're probably fine. The Tikka one is a poor retrofit of the 700 stock to fit a tikka.

Speaking for myself here, but they are heavier and I don’t need the accessory options on a hunting rifle. As long as I can mount a bipod I’m fine. Plus I like the looks of a composite stock much better.

  exact same reasons for me as well.  I just cant see a single benefit to going chassis over composite

Chasis would be awesome for those that hunt off a tripod but they're too heavey and would be cruddy on the hands for packing, esp in cold weather.

It might be an option for a dedicated long range gun that needs the weight and will ride in your pack until you get to your crows nest..esp a folder

Here a few months ago I had the opportunity to buy a near new XLR Carbon chassis for $400.  I probably should have pulled the trigger on it, since it was such a good deal, but I passed.  Just about everything I have is in the 11-11++ lbs range and the thought of adding even more weight, didn't really excite me to much.  But, I still kinda kick myself for not picking it up, if nothing else, just to see if I would have liked it long term or not, that, and I hate passing up a good deal.
