The vet stressed to us the importance of using anti-coagulant baits versus nerve agents.   If a pet eats  some bait, the Drs. known how to reverse the effects of anti-coagulants with good success.   And a pet would have to eat a bunch of bait-killed rodents before they consumed too much poison in that fashion,  so many in fact that it is unlikely that a pet would do that.

Nerve agents are much harder for the vets to reverse.
