Hunting Ridgefield NWR OCT 25
« on: October 18, 2018, 01:50:03 PM »
Hi all,

I drew Ridgefield NWR lottery hunt next Thursday OCT 25th. I didn't get the best pick (12) but I'll be out there hunting.  It's a Thursday so most of my buddies and family will be working but I have the day off so if you'd like to tag along let me know. I'll have 2 more spots in the blind. I live up in King CO now but grew up in SW WA so hunted the refuge a lot. I have a pretty good sized spread and a dog.

Good offer, if I could get away I would take you up on it just to see that area.

How did your hunt turn out?  Migration kicked in about Wednesday up here.  Should be a few spoonies at Ridgefield to shoot though.
Cut em!
It's not the shells!  It's the shooter!

There was a total of 4 ducks killed on Saturday  :dunno: That musta been a brutal day down there. Hope some birds start moving in soon.

I actually did alright! I also saw on the report that the duck hunting was still slow so I picked a blind I thought would be a good goose blind and ended up bagging my first specklebelly  aka White-Front  and 3 cacklers. Never shot a speck before so that was really cool. Also ended up seeing two very nice Columbia White tail bucks who we bleated at and came within 30 yds of the blind (can't hunt those obviously but very cool nonetheless). Very few ducks flying but there are a ton of geese out there.
