Just returned from 6 days of deer hunting in the La Sal unit in Utah. (Personally didn't have a tag but family members did). We saw the fewest deer we've seen down there in over 25 years of hunting. Probably been several factors involved (severe drought conditions, heavy hunting pressure starting in mid August) but the toll wasting disease has taken is undoubtedly been the major factor. I saw several deer I suspect have it (scraggly looking) and we've taken 2 healthy looking bucks that were tested positive when checked at the checking station as we headed home. This is an area where we would usually see well over 150 deer in a 5-6 day hunt and this year we saw maybe 50 (did get 2 decent bucks). I certainly hope this disease doesn't get into Washington and would advise anyone transporting deer from infected states to adhere to the strict transport laws.
