Relaoding for the .260 Remington
« on: October 21, 2018, 03:43:42 PM »
I have been reloading with 140 sst's with good success, but want to try another bullet.  I am shooting a factory Remington mountain rifle.  I am thinking of trying the 140gr Berger vld hunting bullet.  According to Remington's website, my rifle has a 1:9 twist and the Berger box says that the minimum twist should be 1:9.  I have read that the Berger's do better with a faster twist.  Should I try this bullet or go a different route?  I will be loading with nosler brass, CCI br2 primers and H4350 powder.

You could also try the 140 accubond.

My wifes new 260 is 1:9 and it loves the accubonds. Just did a 250 yard dirt nap on her buck :IBCOOL:

The 135 Berger classic hunter would be perfect for your 9 twist.

Bit more speed and a solid BC. Then again, I am a huge Acuubond fan.

Check out Panhandle Precision’s website. Sam has a review of the Berger 130 AR Hybrid and some load data for the 260 REM. Some great field results on deer and antelope.

I’m with BH on the accubond too. I’ve put many ABs into critters near and far and nothing has walked away.

Another vote for Panhandle Precision.  Look him up on youtube.  He primarily shoots and loads for the 260.

Just be sure not mix up Sam's load information on a standard Rem 260 with his 260 Terminator.

Resurrection! I bought a barrel for my AR-10 in .260 Remington and feel like playing with it. Its 20" long with a 1:8 twist. It was CHEAP on CDNN.com $79.99 plus $10 shipping. hopefully it shoots ok. anyone reloading .260 in an AR

I'm not that versed on AR's but I don't know that you can set the barrel back like you could in a bolt gun so if you just run a 260AI reamer in you'll end up with extra headspace.
