As of today, they have put a gate across cowiche mill rd. At the end of the county rd. That is the second cattle guard and the 7 mile marker. I know a lot of you guys plan to hunt there. You still have access through windy point Rd but it sure sucks and is dangerous once it ices up.  Just want ya'll t9 know what to expect

They probably own property on both sides of the road for a good distance.

Yep. He owns both sides for 3 miles. The state says they did not go about incorporating those roads into the green dot system legally

Does anyone know if this gate is closed indefinitely? My dad has a hunter education tag for a bull he can hunt any open season in rimrock or cowiche. He’s been all over without success. I heard this area holds elk. Then I come on hunt wa and see the road I was telling him about is now closed. He was hoping to hunt this weekends cow tag hunt. Which he can still use his bull tag. But I’m taking my son on a whitetail hunt so I can’t help him. So long story to ask if anyone knows if this road is now open?

Nope, that stretch is a private road. They did this 2 springs ago as well. I called dnr and game department. Both said there is nothing they can do about it.

He can still access Reynolds creek. If he comes from windy point off Highway 12, he better have good tires though and have a map if he's not familiar. And yes there are elk.

This will hopefully prevent those particular well-known tribal jerks from their undeserved and excessive kills.

Matter of fact, if it is an easement through private property, a landowner can erect a gate, but has to leave it unlocked.  Might be worth looking into.  Nothing the state can do about the gate, but they can do something about it being locked... of course, only if it's an easement.

That's the only reason there's Elk there. But now, the wolf has arrived so in a few years the Elk will be gone too!
