Losing my best BT clearcut
« on: October 27, 2018, 04:56:42 PM »
She's just too grown in. The replants are 8-20 ft tall and the alders are even higher. I've taken five bucks out of her in seven years plus one dear each for both of my grandsons (one being a first lifetime deer). A tear in my eye.

They don't last long, do they? Always gotta be looking for, and learning, new spots, if you're a blacktail hunter.

In the same boat, still going to try sitting it a little on some small openings. Feel like I'm starting over a little. Always fun to find a new area though

Sorry for your loss!   :chuckle:  If you learned the trails the deer used in there while you could still see in there, then I think you can expect them to stay normal travel routes for the critters.  Make a note of them while you still remember.  Ten years from now, you can go in and hunt those trails.

I hunted one particular road that was a little over a mile long...they started with cuts at the first part and worked there way back over the years...last year was the first year in 18 years I wasn't able to hunt it...sad day in my hunting career....my group has taken probably 30+ deer off of this road over those years...it not fun when your good spots grow up
