Buck of a lifetime
« on: October 28, 2018, 05:34:48 PM »
It has been a blessed year, I started off the year with a 5x5 bull with my muzzleloader and finished off the year this morning with this stud Western Washington Blacktail. I had planned to hunt near some ponds where I had seen some deer sign during elk season but the timber was still a bit dark so I walked an old road that went through a 7ish year old reprod stand. I slowly walked the road and noticed something white about 30 yards in the reprod stand next to a small stream. It looked out of place and I thought it may be a white deer face and sure enough it was! I did not know how big he was when I shot but I knew I saw lots of horn before I shot. He dropped in his tracks and another nice 3 point with eye guards snuck out the backdoor. What a season!

That looks like something I would see on one of Bone’s calendars  :yike:

Amazing deer, definitely a lifetime animal.

Is it just me or have there been an above average number of big Blacktails shot this year? This is definitely the king of them all.

Not sure what to say. The mass on the main beams is spectacular.

But there are two left main beams. Buck of a lifetime or buck of everybody’s lifetime!

Gotta love them three main beams, a lot wider then the one I got a few years ago, awsome job.
Somewhere there is another one running around the sound, friend won't tell me where. Hope someone gets him also.

Thanks everyone! I still can't stop looking at the pictures, going to pickup the horns from the taxidermist tomorrow. It still seems pretty unreal how quick and easy it happened. I hunted by butt off for many years in the high country looking for a buck like this, glad I decided to go out for a quick Sunday morning hunt! My main focus has been Mule Deer hunting for the past few years but these are the bucks that will make a guy go back to Black Tail hunting.
