Alternative belts for work sharp
« on: October 29, 2018, 03:38:22 PM »
Who's using what for belts?  I got a whole ziplock bag full of old belts, I need a pile of new belts!

The Ken Onion uses 3/4" x 12" belts
Work sharp uses 1/2 x 12 (I think) belts.

did some digging around and found red label abrasives online

Can anyone beat this price?  I think if I ordered each belt in bulk I might come out ahead, but I'd have 10/ea or more and since the kit has 3/ea of a couple belts it'd be harder to math  :chuckle:

I’d be interested in buying some if you’re buying bulk.

I've bought them cheaper than that on Amazon.  Generic belts sell for about 50 cents apiece.

How are these belts holding up now that it's been a while?

great

I use those coarse green belts quite a bit on things other than knives, come in very handy.  They're holding up just as good as the regular belts if not better.
