Breaking in boots

I bought some new crispi boots about a month ago. I started breaking them in slowly just around the house to make sure they fit in case I needed to return them. Next was wearing them around the yard and on flattish walks. This weekend I wore them in to a spot to hang cameras and pack feed. It’s not terribly steep but enough to test them. All felt well besides the upper heel/lower Achilles area. I contacted them and they said that spot is part of boot structure so it’s pretty stiff. Any thoughts on how to break them in more. I tried adjusting boot tightness during my trips in and out but didn’t find much helped but do no tighter IS NOT better.

Not sure the difference but just a tender or hot spot at base of Achilles. Didn’t turn to blister but might have if it was an all day hike.

I was thinking that heal slip caused the hot spot for that there is mole skin or tape that you could put on anticipating blisters
I have a pair of Crispi Nevadas and some scarpas that had a little heal slip and there are  actually different ways that you can tie your boots that lock your heal down better. Worked wonders for me

Use paper tape on ankle.   Pray.

Which model crispi? The nevadas and summits have been comfort from the word go. The thors I used this season had a similar issue, not a hot spot or rubbing but caused Achilles fatigue for lack of a better term. The rest of my foot felt good and after a week in the mountains it seemed to clear up. I did notice that lacing the top of the foot tight, and leaving the ankle a little loose, then tightening the top laces did help a bunch.

High quality socks that actually fit your feet perfectly. So many people wear socks and don't ever consider thier fit like they do shoes.
It took my crispis a while to start feeling good to great but they eventually did and I really enjoy them now.
Keep going, play with lacing and explore different socks.

Not directed at the OP, but whatever happened to breaking  in boots before days of the internet and complaining about sore feet?  I remember breaking in a couple pairs of White boots, and you'd always have a couple blisters in the first 2 weeks and hot spots elsewhere. After 3 weeks, they fit like a glove and gave a couple years of joy to your feet. Just seems like guys are quick to complain about any issues these days, even though boots have come a long ways in terms of support and comfort. Just say'n.....

People complained just as much and just as fast before the internet.
Now it is easier to get info and answers I see it as looking for advice not complaining

Not sure there was a complaint in there but just looking for tips from other guys. I appreciate your genuine concern and quality addition to this thread though.
