Upland season 2018, how’s everyone’s season going?
« on: October 29, 2018, 07:16:25 PM »
How’s everyones season going this year? So far I’ve done pretty well with 40 quail, 6 roosters, and a hun. Dogs are working well.

Not as well as yours  :yike:

Been seeing you post and pic on FB

Wanting to get put but with this bum knee it has not happened yet. Walked a road last weekend for grouse,  made it maybe 1/4 mile and had to turn back  :bash: :bash: :bash:
Hopefully try again this weekend,  it all depends on the knee...... but it is getting stronger....

Been pretty solid so far. Have only made it east one time but am hoping to get back after a couple quality hunts end in November. Been too dang busy for another trip. West side pheasant has been pretty productive after work as well.

Great looking dogs. I am a lab and springer fan. I take it those are eastside quail?

It's been an awesome season! I've been hunting with my 6 month old GSP and he has been doing great!
13 quail
14 roosters

Hard to shoot a quail when you might jump a rooster.

Only had time to get out for the opener so far but we had a pretty decent shoot. Was disappointed in the small amount of quail we got into after hearing from multiple people how good the hatch was this year.

We've been kicking ass out there!  Lots of birds this year and have killed 14 rosters so far and 10 or so quail.

Quick bomb over trip for a day. Started the day with mallards on the pond, and were chasing quail by 9. Three spots produced  over 200 quail total. Best numbers I have seen in many years. Worst shooting in as many years.

That first pic in the thread is about as cute as it gets. Priceless. I better get bird hunting in Washington.

Been out 3 times in Washington this year.

The old gal has done good on all three short strolls (<4 miles total). 8 quail and 13 chukar.

Another fun day. Lots of quail, but on a solo adventure. Birds produce many no-shot opportunities. Reminder for folks without good dogs to please not shoot out over vast thickets with no chance of retrival. Tough watching mega covies bust, with plenty of easy shots, but we owe it to the sport.

We had a great opening weekend with four days of bird hunting on the east side. Between my dad, bro and I we got 20 roosters with a couple hand fulls of of quail and huns sprinkled in. Made a great chimichonga dinner for the whole family. Well be back over with family after thanksgiving so it should be fun chasing around some educated birds!

Great year to be training a pup. Lots of birds here on the East side. 7 roosters, a dozen quail thus far.

28ga gets her done again...anyone shooting a 12ga is a bubble off plumb. 3/4 to 7/8 of an ounce kills them just fine!  :chuckle:

Season has been good so far. Got a GSP puppy on Sunday. Chukar hunting has been a little tough, they were still flushing wild on me last weekend. Huns have been holding well, I'm cooking some up for the in laws today. Been seeing good numbers of quail this year.

I’ve been out twice this year only for a few hours, but have seen a few roosters and no quail

Crisp mornings and sunshine. The Panzer had rock solid points and little Monte was spot on. The energy this dog had yesterday was impressive. Lots of birds for five hours of hunting. Called home at noon to say I was on my way. " What happened" was my wife's response. I relly enjoy great hunts

Are those wild birds or released? I have been doing ok on quail but the pheasant population where I hunt is next to gone. Would like to try Montana but have never hunted birds there.
