I believe the pedicle is considered part of the skull and the antler attaches to the top of that and those lower points are right at that
I'm your dam tour guide Arnie please don’t wonder off the dam tour.
Take as many dam pictures as you want ....
Are there any dam questions ..

I’d smoke him. He’s legal in a true spike area as well

I'd be comfortable shooting that spike - the eyeguards appear to originate within 4" of the hairline.

The law read as such:

Spike Bull Restrictions: Elk taken in these
game management units (GMUs) must
have at least one antler with no branches
originating more than four (4) inches above
where the antler attaches to the skull An
animal with a spike on one side (1x2) is
legal in spike only units An animal with
more than one antler point more than four
inches above where the antler attaches to
the skull on both sides (2x2) is illegal

Agreed. I'd shoot. Those brow tines are about as low as they can anatomically grow. If that's not legal then the exception rule is worthless.

I'd say that most elk have pedicle close to 4 inches. If you had to go to the skull and not to "where the antler attaches" , that wouldn't make sense.

Wouldn’t he also be legal in a 3pt min unit?

Here's a zoom on what I'm seeing.  You guys think that's within 4"?  Sure seems close to me.

I put a small yellow line as an indicator.

What does that distance have to do with the rule?

CHOOT EM!!

Might take a second to question it in a true spike unit, but his right side is definitely a spike per the law.

I hope he makes it through the seasons. That is a bull that could grow into a Big Bull if given the chance.

Where your yellow line is in not exactly antler, that is the covered in hair and I would call that the skull.

If a guy can shoot bullwinkle in a spike only area I know I could get cleared for shooting this bull.  :chuckle:

It has nothing to do with 4” from the skull. His yellow line is horizontal.
