new AR,Finally
« on: October 31, 2018, 01:33:41 PM »
broke down and finally bought a Ar. Got the DPMS Oracle 223/5.56 Nato. Also bought a nicer  Vortex 10x50 scope. Saved a ton of money buying in ND. Now for the next question. I'm not going to re load, but wanted some opinions on the bulk ammo you can buy. For example, grab a gun has a ammo can for $148. Don't remember the round amounts, has anyone used these? Is it cheap dirty ammo? Also where do you buy inexpensive good rounds from, pref. the 5.56 Nato. And last question where is everyone buying stuff to dress up their Ar's. i'm interested in a bi pod, nice looking rail, and a grip for the front. Going to be mainly used fro Coyote hunting. I'm new to the Ar world.
Is it waterfowl season yet..............

For hunting I always use some kind of soft point 55 grain.
For just plinking all around shooting fun any kind of brass case ball fmj ammo will work.
But for soft points you will find better bullet option in 223 ammo.
The other thing is you will find out is almost all 556/223 ammo is dirty it's just the powder and cheap primers etc.that are used.

I only shoot brass cased ammo in my gun. PMC and Federal 55 grain fmj is what I usually use when I'm plinking. And when I'm hunting yotes its Hornaday 55 grain V-max. as far as accessories the sky and you imagination is the limit.

Palmetto and Brownells will have deals on ammo sometimes. I've bought at 29c-30c per round there.
Look up gun.deals and filter the ammo by caliber. Ammoseek is another website I've used.

I run Winchester Ranger 55 gr, .223 or Gold Dot, whichever I can get cheaper.

Any brass shell ammo you shoot. Save your brass a guy can always exchange it for loaded if you have a buddy that reloads or could scrap it if you collect a lot of it. Locally seems like a lot of guys do t pick it up. I reload and a few others I hang out with do as well. So have giving friends 500-700 pieces of brass that I’ve picked up here or there..
