Today was.... wet!

I got up early and had about a 14 mile ride in on an old logging road on the mini bike I borrowed from a buddy. I was absolutely soaked by the time I got to where I wanted to start hiking. Luckily I took a second pair of rain gear to wear while hunting.
Snow level was a bit lower than expected around 3900 feet but it was roughly 40 degrees and pouring down rain all day. I cut two different sets of doe tracks being dogged by a buck so the rut is definitely on, but unfortunately I wasn't able to actually find the deer making the tracks. Navigating the steep terrain was pretty brutal as the snow was so saturated. There were literally areas where I was walking through ankle deep streams flowing on top of the snow.
I covered about 8 miles today, mostly off trail. I was pretty tired and cold by around 1pm so decided to head out and dry off. I'll be at it again in the morning.
For those of you not on Instgram, I uploaded a copy of my Instastory to YouTube:
Yay for opening morning!

BIG TRACK!!!

Yeah... it was wet. This is an unnamed creek on the map!
