Nope! While I can respect amateur animal for what he is within his species it's still just a mule deer with a really small antlers :chuckle: :sry: :hello: :yike:

Not to derail anymore but the mule deer is the blacktail and whitetail offspring...who's amatuer now  :chuckle:

We needed to pass some time till he posts some more pics anyways  :chuckle:

Right.  Even the other deer species realized they could be better.....along came the mule deer!

I enjoy hunting both species and have harvested mature muleys and blacktails. Blacktails, in my opinion are much more challenging to harvest a mature buck and obviously take more age to develop large antlers. So if you want a real challenge head West of I5 and see if you’ve the sand to take a nice public land blacktail.

Having eaten all three Washington deer species blacktail is my outright favorite for flavor. There's just so little of it though, very unfortunate. Hopefully Shane bags a big bodied one

Well the trip was a bust. Covered a ton of gnarly ground today and didn’t cut a single track in the snow. Looks like the deer have migrated out of this area. I’ll be hitting a lowland spot tomorrow then taking Wednesday off to spend time with family. Trying not to get discouraged, still plenty of time left!

If 150" is your low water mark you've never gotten a sitka blacktail  :chuckle:
