I sit patiently waiting for him to stand up, gun ready.

That’s a chip shot for anyone who is confident in their weapon. I agree ideally double lung, but if you sat there waiting for him to get up for a double lung, he might just stand up and walk away with his ass in your glass or be spoked by something and gone in a second. I’ve waited before for the perfect opportunity before and have been hosed..

I shoot .5 moa groups at that distance, yet would still wait patiently. I'm not a big fan of head shots and definitely don't like neck shots as my primary shot. Just my opinion though.

Can’t fault you for that. I’m not good at patiently waiting, though sometimes that is the best idea

I’m setting up for the shot and taking my time. If he doesn’t stand by the time my initial adrenaline fades, I’m sending it
Kindly do not attempt to cloud the issue with too many facts.

75-80 yards and I can rest off of something, easy shot in the neck.  :twocents:

I bet you can wait for a stand up shot no problem. I also am a double lung guy. But I agree with Bullblaster that is a gimme shot as is with any kind of rest.

I had this exact shot and took a neck shot at 30’ and missed the spine... good thing he was already full of holes anyway.

I’m surprised so many people would shoot... if he hasn’t winded you at this point, just chirp and stand him up. Not a fan of shooting any animal lying down
