30 06 Ackley Improved
« on: November 06, 2018, 01:05:26 PM »
Need some advise/Opinions, i have a friend who has inherited some firearms and contacted me to see if i was interested in any of them, one of them is a 30 06 Ackley Improved for which i have no experience with, do any of the gun guys on here have any info on them, is it something i should add to the safe or pass on (not worried about value) just if its something to have in the safe. He says he has brass and reloading stuff for it also.

Thanks in advance.
To hunt and butcher an animal is to recognize that meat is not some abstract form of protein that springs into existence tightly wrapped in cellophane and styrofoam.

I'm personally an ackley fan so I'd probably snag it up but if you dont reload or dont like to mess with stuff like fire forming brass then id probably pass.  It would also depend on what make and model it is.

I've had a handful of Ackley rifles over the years. Currently own a 25-06 and a .257 Ackley. The joy of an Ackley chamber, if you don't reload, is firing factory ammo with typically good accuracy! Case goes in looking one way, extracts to the new chambering. Voila!

I'd go for it.  Really enjoy the Ackley I have and the .30-06AI would probably be really easy to load for.  Components readily available and inexpensive.
Kindly do not attempt to cloud the issue with too many facts.

It's the working mans 300 H&H. Personally it'd depend on the specific rifle, but the cartridge it self is nothing to be scared of.
