Video or stills on your trail cam?

Just getting into the use of trail cams.  Mostly to see what kind of wildlife hang out around my place.

I'm wondering about whether to set my cam to video or shoot a series of still images when motion is detected.

Which do you use and why?

I like videos because then you get to listen to what's going on as well.

I do both, but mostly stills for battery life.

Get a Bushnell and you can set it to hybrid mode and take up to 3 stills then a video. Best of both worlds. Video takes more battery but not enough for me to worry about it.

Thanks all. It seems like stills make for great sharing with others while video lets you hear sounds, like elk bugling. I imagine the video mode eats up batteries quicker with IR light on for the whole clip at night.

I'm trying it tonight set up over some a fallen apples.  Shooting video to try out.

I'm 100% video. You can take any screen shot you want from it. Stills you miss sooooo much.
There's a lot of work/time/money involved with Tcams, so a little extra cost for higher battery usage, and larger SD cards is well worth it to me.

I am all for video. When I have had mine set on video I have seen soooo much more that I wouldnt have with stills. However I do have a couple exceptions. I have a couple really cheap cameras. They work great for stills but night time videos are absolutely horrid. A lot of times you cant make out what is on camera at all. So those cameras I have set on stills to take a burst of 3 photos.
