Tag Application Service ?
« on: November 30, 2018, 07:42:23 AM »
Can anyone recommend a third party application service to handle all the draws/deadlines?   I've used a certain one for a few years but not happy with their fees and mistakes they've made.

I don't use the application services and never have used one, but I've communicated with guys from Epic Outdoors and they seem like good guys to deal with. Jason Carter owns the business.

If money is no object to you, its not a bad route. I prefer to do it myself and use Huntin' Fool to help with areas and odds but Epic is a good one too

Why do you need the service?  You don't know where to apply or how to apply?

Good question....I apply in 14 states and over 25 different species.   It is a total pain in the butt to keep track of deadlines but more importantly a good consultant has valuable info to share.   I had a great guy but he moved on and the new person doesn't know crap.

When a person can tell you how many points it will take to draw in South Dakota, Kansas, Nevada etc. and what class animal to expect in that specific unit that is helpful.  If I tell them I want an opportunity at a 160 class mule deer they can tell me it will require approximately X points in a certain state and these game units willl hold that caliber of deer.  Is it DIY, how is land access?  They also know what areas have had down years from bad winters, disease or predators.    I can't keep up with it all so that's why I use a service.

Ha, that didn't come out right.    25+ tags in 14 states....(just the 4-5 usual species).

I enjoy the application season. Researching and finding my own spots. There are people who pay to have their lawns mowed or buy their firewood split and stacked for them, which I get enjoyment out of those as well, so to each their own I guess. Give both Huntin' Fool and Epic a call and see if either of them are to your liking, now is the time that's for sure.
