Bird vest/backpack

Thinking about ditching the ol vest and moving on to a pack/vest hybrid I see a few different models, any input? One worry I have is the shoulder strap of a pack being thick enough to be in the way while shouldering a shotgun? Thanks for your thoughts!

I have a Buck's Bags strap vest and love it.
The strap does get in the way of a shotgun mount.
That must be why I miss birds....

Wingworks for long hunts. Carry water no problem. Little heavy for early season, might just be the dog supplies and miscellaneous I carry in it..
Short hikes usually use filson tin cloth hunting bag or light Duluth strap vest. Bucks bags makes some nice vests. Good luck.
ps no issue w the straps.

WingWorks here as well. Great for longer hunts, but a bit overkill in other situations. You won't notice the strap when you shoulder the gun.
Q5 and Tenzing both make vests/packs that are more geared towards all day hiking and carrying more supplies.

I have been using the LL Bean strap/backpack type vest for a couple months now and really like it. Like has been said, it’s probably over kill in most situations but it’s nice to have the extra storage. I like the straps because they have several spots I can mount my e-caller remote with the belt clip (dogtra). I have yet to get thrown off by the straps while shooting.

Lots of good ones out there, straps are not very thick. I have the tenzing, I like it but it is hard to get larger birds (pheasant, grouse) in with one hand. Has a dromedary pouch, and two gear pouches. Can easily carry two boxes of shells in the front pockets. I'm interested in the Q5 vests, but they are pretty spendy. Cabelas has a strap vest that is pretty reasonably priced

I have been waiting on the badlands upland, or alps vest x to have a closeout sale. Leaning towards the Alps due to the layout.

I've been using the ll bean upland pack for a couple seasons now and have no complaints. The straps are thin enough they don't mess with my mount or shot.
My buddy has the badlands and really likes it. Having seen it in person, its a nice pack/vest, but I haven't worn it. I actually like the pocket set up on the badlands a little more than my ll bean.

You're in Buckley? Me too. If you want, we could meet up so you can take a look at my tenzing/ try it on before dropping $180 on one.

I loe my wingworks. You can load it up or not. Carries great both ways. I am pretty sure I wont need to buy another for 15 plus years thats how well they are build. I have heard the Q5 is a good system as well.

Another WingWorks fan. I’ve had one almost since they started selling them and recently upgraded to the larger game bag. I will use no other.
