GMU # 130 Cheney?
« on: November 14, 2018, 10:40:52 PM »
I've been muzzy hunting for elk in the northeast corner for a few years with no success. I shot a few great bulls with my trail cameras, but not with the gun. I'm looking to extend my hunting into the late season. Is there anyone willing to part with some good elk tips for gmu 130 (Cheney) or gmu 139 (Steptoe). My research shows private property as far as the eye can see and beyond. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!      Joe

The 130 thing is pretty much a 15 minute hunt as they dash back to Turnbull, can happen if you have permission from owners but far from easy with a serious patchwork of ownership.  A short walk can put you on several parcels.  Some welcome the take and the next one will hang you.

139 has some possibilities especially close to the state line and again can be a very quick there and out of reach, Idaho, deal.  Find a grower with serious crop damage issues and cooperate with what they ask you it could work out.  Would not be unusual for the owner to give you a call with intelligence, the garb damage can be devastating.
