Yeah, looks more like a horse shoe imprint than a grizzly track.

Have not seen many horses with claws way out front like that, looks like the small southeast Alaska ones I have seen.  Probably only 600#, not 900

A friend of mine from my Mule Club posted these.  Supposedly taken on the Shedroof Divide near Mankato.

What’s he in, a stock pen?

Pretty sure they use it for collecting hair samples.

He might not realize how close they are, a lot of folks up there have no clue about how often they are passing through.

I didn't get the feeling it was just a passing through bear, it had been using those posts pretty regularly.  They were chewed up pretty good and had old + new bite marks, scratches and just full of hair to the point the posts were almost fuzzy.  All the grasses were trampled and wouldn't grow at the base of the post, just bare mud, the tracks confirmed grizz, plus I found very fresh tracks after a heavy rain that night before so the tracks were hours old.

I had a bear roar at me, very very loud, but I didn't lay eyes on it so I won't say it was a grizz roaring.  It was about 75 yards away and in thick blowdown timber, our scent was wafting that direction.

I didn't see much black bear sign while in this grizz's core area.

My hunting partners were loathe to hunt there, especially after the roaring. I was probably a bit too cavalier about it in retrospect.

To not believe the griz are there full time is the equivalent to believing in the tooth fairy.

The only difference is this tooth fairy collects the whole human and doesn't leave money under the pillow.

Range much larger and numbers higher than officially reported.  Increasing range and numbers throughout the northwest

Anyone know if they have been spotted as far south as Bead Lake?
