Waterfowling Jacket Reccomendations

This will be my second year waterfowling. Took an old Columbia wool camo jacket out last year but it’s really dark green and didn’t blend in well with the tans/browns of where I’m hunting.

Any recommendations on a good waterproof and durable jacket? I’ve done some searching on Cabelas and others online and a lot of them say water-resistant but not waterproof so I wanted to get some feedback from folks who have experience. Thanks in advance!

I normally baptize my self in the salt water ditches so....    It does work good. I like the heat reflectors on the inside. works good as a wader jacket when its not too cold. If im trying to stay dry it keeps me dry as well. They used to make some sweet wader pants but i couldnt find them when i went to order another pair.

If your older, Filson has some good gear.  Anymore I run all Sitka waterfowl gear.  Seems to work very well for as much as I hunt.

I have an older Columbia Widgeon Omniheat jacket and liner. Great coat and I would hope the newer models are the same quality. I noticed that the newer model didn't have the tubular shell holders and I would miss those after seeing how handy they were.

I was just shopping at the Columbia employee store in PDX the other day. They had a very limited selection of camo options this year, so I definitely think they are reducing the collection. Sucks!

I won't buy anything but Sitka as they have the very Best Customer Service. I recently sent back for repair a two year old Delta wading jacket, where the upper pocket seam had ripped, and there was a lot of wear down to the Gore-Tex on the inside of the jacket where the suspender clips rubbed. They replaced it with a new jacket, and wanted to really dig into how I was using the product so they could improve it in the future. I had nothing but issues with Drake trying to get them to fix my wife's jacket that had pocket issues. Guess what...she now wears nothing but Sitka, as does my daughter who had issues with Columbia. It's expensive, but well worth it, and you can usually find it for a 20% discount online, or at Holiday Sports in Mt. Vernon.

I have both the Sitka Delta Wading jacket and the Duck Oven Jacket.  One's early season and the other is a cold weather jacket.   I like both.

I’ve got a few year old Columbia wading jacket and I love it. Especially for hunting areas with 15 shell limits. The jacket holds 14 in designated shell holders so I know I just have to grab one extra shell and I’m good. Looks like they no longer make it which is a shame.

Any sitka jacket. I have worn every type of jack and they all breakdown eventually.  Going on 4 years with my sitka jacket. Delta wader.

I bought the Sitka delta jacket for my son and he has had great luck with it. Expensive but should keep him dry for years.

I also have the Sitka Delta wader jacket and LOVE it.  I have used 2 Rivers west jackets, a Columbia, Drake, and Browning all before the Sitka and it is the only one that keeps me dry ALL day.  Buy once, cry once.

Going on third season with the SITKA Pantanal jacket. I can honestly say it's the best jacket I've owned.

I have four pieces of Sitka.  One is a base layer (next to skin).  I think it is called a Core Midweight Zip T.  I have the Duck Oven mid-layer jacket.  I love this thing.  I wear it all the time around my property, on it's own.  For waterproof Gore-Tex outer jackets I have the Delta Wading Jacket and the Hudson jacket.  I wore the Delta last weekend with the Duck Oven under it in 25 degree temps.  Could go colder and be ok, depending on layering.   Sitka is owned by WR Gore, so they use the highest grade of Gore-Tex in their jackets.  There is not a breathable waterproof hunting garment on the market that is any better than Sitka.   I like a previous poster's comment of "buy once cry once".  Sitka is expensive but a long term investment.  I am in my 60s and I do not envision ever buying another hunting jacket.

In the past I have owned Drake (junk, at least at that time), Columbia and Cabelas.  I really like the Columbia jackets but they will not keep you dry like a Sitka.

sitka  - the duck oven and farenheit are the do-all pieces that can take you down into the frigid temps. The waterfowl marsh pattern is the best camo out there. I wear it for both waterfowl and big game hunting. If the price tag is too steep you can try to shop used, there have been some deals on here in the past.

I bought a set of Cabelas Dry Plus wetland came jacket and bibs about 20 years ago. I don't know if they're made as well still but they still serve me well.

It has been plenty warm, even on some seriously frigid days. Very $$ but worth the money. Next level quality. no need for much more than a base layer
