Montana 411 elk hunt

Finally drew a bull permit in Montana. The weather was crazy. Mid 50s then snow and lots of wind and two days later in the 50s again.

















My son got another buck.



We were driving to town when we found this buck that had been shot through both back legs that were broken and through the brisket. He was in bad shape. Found the landowner that gave me permission to go shoot him. Not how i wanted my deer hunt to go ,but could not ignore him and let him suffer any longer. So I tagged and my season was over.

Congratulations that is a beautiful bull, I was in 410 last week and we saw some nice bulls there as well, weather was really unpredictable, sub zero to 60 degrees overnight, neat country.

The weather was crazy. Went I left wind chil of 5 degrees. Yesterday it was 56 and sun.

Awesome bull Craig.   Did you do some serious door knocking or have an in.  That unit is like 85 percent private and a couple big money ranches there.  I want to say Wik bros or something like that.   It’s been awhile since I’ve been there.

My buddy that  I have been hunting with for 20 years has two large ranches in the unit. So I have an in. One of them butts up to Wilks brothers N Bar ranch.
