My Largest Blacktail
« on: November 22, 2018, 09:31:16 AM »
So after having a pretty messed up elk season, fog and truck issues and stupidity, we ended up with nothing to do that last saturday of late buck. My father, who is a disabled hunter, still wanted to hunt and said he would buy a deer tag if I wanted to go. So we leave the house at 5am on saturday and take off to where he had seen deer everyday during elk season. Apparently everyone else seen them also as there were 3 other trucks there :bash:. We drive around and look and glass alot but turn up not one living creature, not even a grouse. So we decide we might as well get a load of wood. So we find a good spot and spend some time cutting a load of wood and eating lunch. By the time we are done it is 2ish and we decide to take one last drive up and around a big canyon and then start easing our way home. After 20 min in to our loop I see something down through the trees and then see it is a pretty nice buck. Missed the first shot completely, our as dad joked gave him a warning shot, but hammered him on the second. Awesome day and always love hunting with my pops

Great buck! Haven't seen a good buck on top of a load of firewood picture in a long time, love it!
