Recommendations for Muzzle Brake and Reblueing.
« on: November 24, 2018, 08:15:01 PM »
I live in Woodland, WA and am looking for some recommendations. I have a Winchester Model 70 in. 300 Win Mag. It was produced in about 1970. The blurring is almost gone. I want to have the little nicks and marks fixed then have it reblued. I also want to have a muzzle brake installed. I have read about a few companies in the Midwest and back east that are recommended online. Does anyone have any experience or recommendations locally or out of state for doing this work? I care a lot about this gun and want it done well. I also want a good brake installed that will tame it down as much as possible. Thanks in advance for the suggestions!

This rifle belonged to my grandfather. It has quite a bit of sentimental value as he gave it to me while on his death bed and was one of his most prized possessions. I thought it would be best to take it back to its original finish.

Makes sense.  You should be able to find a gunsmith down there that does good work and both make a brake, and blue the barrel for you as well.   I dont think you need to send it out of state.  Should be someone within  30 minute drive.

My hunting partner has had work done by Gentry Custom LLC. He was really happy with work done and was a fast turn around time.

Nothing like a Remington model 700xcr.
