Mouse gun
« on: November 26, 2018, 11:47:22 AM »
I had this BDL stock and a Rem 700 .223 action I wasn't using so I ordered up a .20 cal Hart #4 11twist barrel awhile back, dropped it all off at my gunsmiths a few months ago and had him make me a 20-222.  Just picked this little guy up last week.  I'm generally not much for wood but I've always liked the look of the Rem BDL Custom Deluxe rifles so I tried to replicate one of those with this build.  Would have been nice to have that rich bluing they come with from the factory but black Cerakote will have to do.  My smith did a quick load work up and shot a .094 three shot 100yd group so that'll be plenty good for ground squirrels, PD's, and maybe an occasional coyote.

Interesting.  What kind of speeds?

This first load was just kind of a quickie load work up to get it on paper and test fire it, it's a fairly mild load at 3600fps.  These things don't shoot very much powder, this load is only 22.5gr H322.  These little 20-222's won't run with the bigger case capacity cartridges like the 204 Ruger or 20 Prac/Tac but they aren't to far off of those.  I have a 20-250 when I want to make .20 cal bullets go really fast.
