LEM vs Weston stuffer?

Looking at picking up a stuffer. The LEMs seem to be real popular. This is the unit I was looking at.

Also looking at a Weston.

This one is a little bigger, has two speeds, tilt out cylinder. It's not as easy to clean out it due to the elbow at the discharge.

Was hoping to get some recent reviews on these. Everything I've searched is a couple years old on here. I can find some decent pricing on either of these. The Weston upon initial review jumps out due to the advertised larger size, the tilt-out, and the two speed.

Anyone want to chime in?

I have the LEM 5 lb. It works great as I don't do a ton of stuffing. If I did the 15 lb would be nice. Nothing wrong with this unit at all.

For about the same price, look into a Grizzly 15 lb.  I bought one a couple years ago and love it.  It is extremely easy to clean as everything comes apart.

I have the LEM 15 lb model, and I like it...., but there is always about a pound of meat left over in the bottom of the tub.    With breakfast or italian sausage it not a big deal.  I always leave some as bulk anyway, but with summer sausage or pepperoni I would rather it was all stuffed.

I have the Weston and love it.  Very easy to use and clean.

My buddy has a similar model Weston in a bigger size and I've done some stuffing with it. Works great. Two speeds is a nice feature. Seems built to last. I'd give it my recommendation.

Do you know if the gears are metal or plastic on the Hakka? I tried searching their website but that gets me no where. I looked at those, seems like pretty good value, but wasn't sure of the brand quality. What about part availability?

I have the 5lb LEM in your link.  It works well for me, and easy to use.  Haven't had any issues with it.  I've never owned any other brand, so can't comment on the others.

I took it apart and confirmed gears are not plastic. They are a good value but you hit on my similar concern regarding parts avail down the road. I was willing to roll the dice based on all the good reviews on Amazon based on my perception of the risk vs cost. So far, so good. This thing is beefy. Solid construction just like my buddy's Weston.  Which is one of the reasons I mentioned it.  The Weston is a slick unit. I view the Hakka as a knock off model, but for a recreational sausage maker like me that's probably good enough. I was really surprised how well built. The fit and finish is just as good. I have had one of these for two years now and love it.  I tell anyone who uses it to be very careful and not force anything because I am worried that it may have cheaper metal gears but it hasn't had one hiccup yet and seems really well made.

I ended up getting a 11lb Weston. I found a pretty decent deal on ebay - $140.00 and free shipping. Thanks for the info.

Haven't done any in a while. Feel the same way have the 5lb griz works great 15 would be better

This is a little old, but in case anyone else is looking at them. I have the lem 5lb and it works good for summer sausage, but if you want to stuff 19mm or smaller casings you'll need to order the 3/8 tube and prep for a good workout. Currently piecing together a hydraulic unit. Just did 25lbs and it about killed me.

Suggestion: We use a slice or two of soft bread to help with that problem! Break the bread into fours and put into the stuffer after all your meat is gone! Just make sure to go slowly and watch so that you don't push the bread into the casing! It works great though and we don't have any wasted meat being left behind in the stuffer!
