Got into a few the other day
« on: December 08, 2018, 11:25:45 PM »
I had to run down valley to get my snow tires mounted.  I figured that since I made the trip, I might as well go for a walk with the dog.  We got into birds after about 2 miles of rough walking, (standard approach). My old chessie was feeling spunky and flushed 2 covies wild before settling down.  I gave her a downright look of disapproval after the second wild flush.  It was almost comical to see her come back with her head hanging.  After that, she settled down and got right to business.  I snapped a couple of photos of the participants early in the hunt. That gun is an old Uggie and is my go-to chukar gun.

Any chance you could provide a little insight into the rough area you were.  I'm new to Chukar hunting and have been out to a couple places recently with no luck.  Would be super helpful to know if I'm at least in the right general area.

Thanks in advance,

I'm absolutely certain that if I gave any hints at all about any chukar place, I would be giving away someone's secret spot.  You need to hook up with sombody and learn some basics about where they are.  There are a lot of birds along the Eastern slope of the Cascades from North to South.  Best of luck to you.
