I just got mine back about a month ago. We still have a lot to do with adding ferns, moss and some other stuff. We're tossing around the idea of a half round of a small fir tree with a couple straggly limbs, clear coated and butted up against the wall. Not 100% sure what else we will end up doing though. This is a 14 ft. chunk of old growth fir. we had to remove the trim around the living room window and hoist it inside with the crane on our shop truck. Then made dollies to roll it back against the wall. I also had to remove my gas stove, patch the flooring where the stove base used to be, then covered the wall in planking. After the log was mounted I put up some LED lighting behind the log. I wanted dim halogen lights, but didn't want the heat to cause a problem, so I found LEDs with the right color and intensity. I know, the pics aren't very great. My phone is messed up and I will get some better ones when we make some more progress. I mounted the cat walking on the log to the left, with it's head turned slightly left, because that's exactly how he was when I shot him. He was walking on a log 16 yards away and the sun was behind him giving him the same lighting effect.
EDIT: I'm not sure why the first one is upside down. so I appoligize.

How come it seems so hard to capture a cougar face?

90% of the lion mounts I see just look... off. Those Soucy mounts are about the best I’ve seen

If I ever catch up to a cat I’ll be sending it to him.
The things that come to those who wait, may be the things left by those who got there first!

Just picked mine up Friday from a taxidermist that would like to remain nameless. But If I hadn't have found this gentleman, Phil Soucy was going to get it.

Great looking cat. It’s a shame he doesn’t want to be named, turning out work like that..

How did you manage to tame that thing enough to sit in your shop like that? :chuckle: That's 1 of the most realistic cougar mounts Ive ever seen! Love it!
