Like Special T said.....I think the most likely scenario here on the west side is earthquake.....and where I live, I'm staying put. On the other hand.....it's likely that my family and I will be at work when it happens, or at least some of us. So, it's more of a get home and get everyone rounded up deal.

So, I carry a small "get home bag" in my truck and whatever weapon I may have on me at the time. Can't be too heavy, because I might be on foot and it might take me a couple days to get home......once there, between us and the neighbors (pretty good community) we would be o.k. for a while.
Even Duct Tape can't fix Stupid, but it CAN Muffle the Sound

You can't fix stupid, BUT it can be numbed with a 2x4...

Ruger Old Army of course! Plenty of bullet lead from wheel weights off people’s abandoned cars. Load it with anything, BP, Pyro, Smokeless, it doesnt care (Bill Ruger proved that years ago). 10000 caps in a sandwich bag. Loaded for life!

This is an interesting idea that has been displayed in several different Apocalypse films.  Sadly this states wheel weights are mostly Zinc now not lead. I personally love black powder guns.  Then again i like most retro primal things like archery as well.

For this discussion i dont think  guns are important just ammo. IMO a 9mm pistol with a carbine that takes the same mags would be as good as it gets. a close second would be a 357 revolver and a lever gun in the same caliber.

If you want to look at the most realistic issue Washington may face look at the Cascadia rising  earthquake event. the Washington national guard did a simulation test a few years ago, but USED THE CURRENT INTERNET INFRASTRUCTURE! imagine life where EVERY bridge to the PCT was collapsed.  pretty scary  and difficult to plan for when you realize life wouldnt return to normal for 5 years on the west side.

I was near the Locks during the Nisqually  quake and that was just a baby. Since i was on a pier it was accentuated.

I was in the Boeing Developmental Center when the Nisqually earthquake in 2001.
They immediately closed all bridges and on-ramps until they could be inspected. There is no way out of that valley, without having to go over a bridge or get on an on-ramp.
Everyone was stuck on Meridian in traffic for 4 hours not moving. I could see I-5 a crossed the valley, it was deserted because no one could get on the freeway.
And all the cell towers went offline do to overload.

I know this a tongue and cheek thread, but it would be smart to thinks these things through for all the locations you or your family could be in a disaster.
Only 2 defining forces sacrificed themselves for you:
The American Soldier and Jesus Christ. One died for your freedom, the other for your soul.

He trains my hands for war and my fingers for battle.

Don't need an earthquake.  During the last major ice storm winter, I-5 was cut to the south by flooding, IIRC, and I-90 was cut by avalanches.  I shudder to think of a Rainier event implications for the region, much less the worst case earthquake.

If I I didn't also see the light, it would be 870 12 ga., Glock 9 mm, and bolt rifle in .308.

And, there will be no internet for days, maybe weeks, or longer.  Banks will not be able to communicate with each other, so withdrawing your cash will be difficult, or impossible.  Make sure you have ample cash on hand for all of the necessities, such as ammo, which will become scarce and will become its own form of currency.

No Cell phones or Social Media. Commodities that can be traded will have a higher value than all the cash you could carry and the debt cards will be in high demand also.

Trying to figure out where this is headed. When this may happen do you have to return to where ever you have the stock pile of mythical arm's we have all destroyed?

I have carried a small amount of survival items in my truck for years. Thinking I may not be able to get any where else.
Something we all need to think about.

Mount Baker, Rainier, Adams, and earth quakes.

Red dawn possible I guess.  Civil war?????

Since my kids are all grown. My first priority would be to get to my wife. After that all depends on the problem.

I now have the fortune to have left Pugetropolis, and all my family that I have responsibility to care for is essentially within a stone's throw or less.  It is a different style of life here in the NE corner, and I am quite fond of the area and the people.

But yes, cash on hand in $20 bills or smaller is a good idea generally for power outages, as well as keeping your tanks above 1/2 tank, having 72 hours to multiple weeks of food and water available or on hand, etc. just seems to be good sense.

If you are storing food at home to deal with a natural disaster, remember to put it in a place you can find it should the house collapse.  if it is in the basement buried under two stories of house it may as well not exist!

There are an extremely small number of scenarios where bugging out is the right thing to do. Your energy is better spent thinking about how to fortify your home and stock enough supplies to wait out trouble.

If there is the cascadia event quake you boat will likely be toothpicks or placed on dry land some distance from normal high tide line. 2c

In archery we have something like the way of the superior man. When the archer misses the center of the target, he turns round and seeks for the cause of his failure in himself.
