I don't have a Metcalf but I did get a Selway for this past season. I'm pretty sure the suspension is all the same on the two packs. The pack carries amazingly well, support of the hipbelt and comfort of the shoulder straps. Takes a little tweaking to get it dialed, but I wouldn't hesitate to get another MR.

I love mine. I don't really have any other pack to compare it to - but I packed out several deer this year and it worked awesome. I liked being able to put the meat on without putting it in the bag. It had plenty of space for backpack camping and after a year of use it seems pretty solid. My initial concern was all the straps and how to get the bag detached so you could load meat...but after a few times it was pretty easy/intuitive. There may be better packs on the market but I doubt you will be disappointed with the Metcalf.

My boy runs a Metcalf and loves it - and he's tried all of the others.

I've been running one for a couple years now. Great pack and will haul a lot of gear. Plus the load shelf handles an elk quarter with ease.

I had no issues with my metcalf. Carried weight very well, actually used it on my dall sheep hunt 5 years ago with no issues. From my experience MR packs carry the weight about as good as it gets.

thanks for the reviews guys. As stated, the big draw to this pack is the ability to load meat on the shelf and not in a bag. I don't fully "need" a new bag but tough to turn down a good deal.

I think you will be happy with it. Ive been using mine since 2015 and its been awesome! This last hunting season a bit of the stitching was coming undone and i sent a pictire to MR and they immediately sent me a new shoulder harness. Great warranty, great customer service and of course, great product!

I absolutely loved mine and I packed ALOT of meat with it. It is an awesome pack. If you are getting a good deal on it I wouldn’t be afraid to snatch it up. Just hope that it has the proper sized yoke, tho you might be able to find a used one somewhere else. With that said I have been running a kifaru duplex frame and reckoning bag the last few years and it is a better pack. I just upgraded to the kifaru duplex lite and will use that next season. You cannot go wrong with the metclaf tho. Do you know what frame it is? Mine was the original NICE frame

They have a nifty organization system but it costs you a couple pounds. Just have to know what matters to you.
They go on sale 25% off a couple times a year. All the packs are well made, and MR is no exception.
When it came down to what mattered to me I skipped the MR because
-a couple pounds heavy
-narrow hip belt(that perfroms better than I expected)
-it hold the load too far from the body
But like I said, not a bad bag. If it was the one I could afford then it's what I would have gotten it. There were just other packs that checked more boxes for me.

It sounds like it's time to get a new gun.
