Last year I never saw a bull at all with cows even through the early archery season and bugling was at a low. Last weekend hiked up to my honey hole @ first light, found 40 elk in the meadow and was surprised when the bulls came out of the wood & others bugled from the woods, herded the cows together & off they went towards bedding. It is weird to me that one year no herding and this year all herded up in July

? Nice to see all the resident elk back this year, Actually more than I thought lived in the whole area. The bulls were actually bugling to get them together & bugled all the way up the mountain to keep them close. Must be perceived early competition between the bulls ? One side note: each cow had a calf, no twins just one each. Looked healthy. Mike
