Loomis
« on: December 13, 2018, 01:08:38 PM »
It's been years since I hunted deer up around the Loomis area.  I'm not asking for specific areas, just wondering how the deer are doing up there?  Thinking of taking my son's up there to hunt next year.
Thanks

Often mirrors what you see in the Methow as far as reports go.    THey are suffering much of the same fate for similiar reasons.   I didnt actually go there this year so have nothing firsthand.

We have a friend that has a cabin there and has hunted that area for 20 plus years. He said this year was dismal, I don't think he even got anything. He also said they saw 3 wolves together and as soon as they made eye contact with them those wolves took off like a bat out of hell, possibly been shot at before maybe.

Spent entire season there , mostly 5500 feet +, no deer in our camp,,, didn't see any hanging. of course saw a few 2 and 3 point white tail in the ranchers fields down low, but, THE WOLVES ARE DOING VERY WELL! along with cougars and bears. Oh EXCUSE me, one guy got a really nice muley at 9000 ft level, Windy peak area. I saw some legal muley's but they are so spooky you better have your finger on the trigger and ready to shoot or it'll be gone. I think the predators have got them running and they don't stop till they are in the next county!
Maybe better down low, 12 years hunting up high and has gotten worse each year.

During muzzy and rifle it was very tough!! Not good at all. I heard some deer showed for the last couple days of late archery but that is heard not seen. It is not as it should be by any means. If you hunted years ago you will likely be very disappointed as most are.

Second yr hunting it for me last year had a greats season with no tag filled got into 30+ deer 15bucks only within my archery range of a barely legal 2x3 didn’t draw on him mind you my archery range last year was 25 yards(just learning about  archery) this year same story but got into way more bucks with about 10 legal bucks in my archery range missed 3 bucks due to foliage fog misread range and excitement but I however did fill my deer tag on a pretty good whitetail

Been archery hunting there for almost 15 years. This was our worst year yet. Saw 5 shooters between all of us in 12 days with 6 guys. I got the only shot on a smallish 3 point and missed clean. Left 3 days before the season ended so maybe it got better. Had a couger at 20 yards and couldnt get my bow off the branch to get a shot
