New longbow
« on: December 09, 2018, 02:17:47 PM »
Finally decided to bite the bullet and start shooting traditional again. I picked up a Galaxy Ember 60” takedown longbow. I chose the 50#@28” limbs which should put me between 53-56#s based on my draw. I will be shooting GT Traditional 400s with 25 gr footers and 175 gr heads.  Any recommendations for bow mount quivers would be appreciated.  I had a blast shooting trad at the local range when I was in high school, so I’m super excited to get back into it.

Thank you, I really like the feel and can’t wait to shoot it. Selway and Great Northern are now on my list.

When I got back into it someone had recommended Selway, maybe it was Boneaddict.  It has worked great for me through many miles of crawling through Sage.

Eagles flight is what I settled on. I think 3rivers still stocks em.
May my presence go unnoticed, may my shot be true, may the blood trail be short.

Shot the new bow today. Man it’s addictive. My range time actually went better than expected. I shoot instictive so that is going to take a bit of practice to put all the pieces together. The good news was the arrows were flying straight so I did well with the spine (Archers Advantage really helped) and I felt like the majority of my releases were clean.

Try to come to the Rock Shoot in Moses Lake this coming April.  AWESOME shoot, so much fun!!!  Check it out.  3 different courses of 3D animals through sage brush and basalt rock.  Bring arrows you don't mind shattering or loosing.  :)

So the learning continued with the new bow today. I am not sure if the gentleman that assisted me today at KBH is a member here but it was humbling in a great way. He stopped his session and basically gave me a full trad lesson. He helped tune my bow and gave me some seriously good pointers. He also watched my shot routine and told me where I could correct my form. I appreciate every ounce of knowledge he shared. I don’t know why I am so surprised when people give a hand but that seems to be happening more and more, which is fantastic.  Keep up the good work guys
